How to Print a Ruler to Exactly 100% Actual Size
Modern printers and web browsers frequently default to "Fit to Printable Area" or "Scale to Fit". That setting shrinks documents by 3% to 7% to preserve margins, resulting in an inaccurate ruler. Here is how to print with true 1:1 mathematical accuracy:
Select Paper Format
Choose US Letter if you are in the United States, Canada, or Mexico (8.5 × 11 in). Choose A4 for standard international ISO paper (210 × 297 mm).
Set Scale to 100% (Actual Size)
In your browser's print dialog, locate the Scale setting. Choose "Custom: 100%" or "Actual Size". Never check "Shrink to Fit".
Verify Calibration Check Box
Every sheet includes an official 2.0-inch (50.8 mm) Calibration Square. Use a coin, credit card, or existing ruler to verify before cutting.
Printer Settings by Browser
